Hatta Azad Khan—a scholar, theater and film practitioner who also served as an arts and culture manager. He was the Founding Dean of the Faculty of Applied and Creative Arts at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (1993–1997), Director of the National Arts Academy (1999-2001), and later became the first figure appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Istana Budaya (2001–2005) responsible for promoting the concept of “World-Class Performing Arts” by bringing musicals, operas, orchestral concerts, ballets, dance dramas, modern theater, and traditional Malaysian theater to the professional stage.
